Treatment and Rehabilitation

At SHB "Banja Kanjiža", with the help of natural healing factors – thermo-mineral water and peloid, as well as modern therapeutic procedures in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation, we treat:

  • degenerative changes of joints and the spinal column
  • disc herniation – conditions after disc herniation surgery
  • post-traumatic conditions of upper and lower extremities and the spinal column
  • rheumatic diseases
  • muscle diseases
  • peripheral nerve lesions
  • diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system
  • children’s rehabilitation

Indications and Contraindications

Indications

  • inpatient and outpatient medical rehabilitation
  • inflammatory and degenerative rheumatism (in the quiet phase)
  • conditions after injuries to the locomotor apparatus and spinal column, as well as surgical procedures (hip, knee, etc.)
  • diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system
  • children’s rehabilitation

Contraindications

There is a possibility that during treatment in thermal water, the patient's symptoms may significantly worsen; this phenomenon is known as "spa reaction." General symptoms of "spa reaction" include bad mood, fatigue, headache, malaise, drowsiness, insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, rapid pulse, and sometimes fever. Local symptoms include increased pain and possible joint swelling.

This most commonly occurs after 3-5 baths, but discomfort can appear earlier or later. Symptoms usually last for a few days, but sometimes they can persist for several weeks. In that case, a doctor must determine if it is a "spa reaction"; if so, or if symptoms intensify, the water temperature and the duration of the bath are reduced.

Characteristics of water and mud

The mineral water belongs to the category of sodium-hydrocarbonate-iodine-bromide-sulfide-alkaline hyperthermal water.

It is used as an auxiliary healing agent in therapies, as well as for recreational purposes.

The depth of the borehole is 1,140 m, and the water temperature is 67°C.

Mineral waters of this composition are found in the wider area of the Pannonian Plain (Vojvodina, Hungary, Slovenia).

Thermal Baths

Thermal mineral water is used through pearl baths, underwater massage, and pool baths. It helps with relaxation and alleviating musculoskeletal complaints.

Mud Treatment (Peloid)

Application of heated peloid (40-42°C) in the form of packs, providing excellent results for rheumatic diseases and post-traumatic conditions.

Underwater Extension

A specific treatment applied to alleviate symptoms caused by degenerative diseases of the spine, a method successfully used in our institute for decades.

Medical Rehabilitation

Elektroterapija

Electrotherapy

Treatment of painful conditions with electric current is carried out using various types of electrotherapy. Therapy time is individual, depending on the prescribed diagnosis or regulations for specific types of currents.

Galvanska struja

Galvanic Current

Indications for the use of galvanic current:

  • arthrosis, arthritis (painful knees, hips, hand joints)
  • cervical and lumbar syndrome
  • post-traumatic swelling and hematomas, distortions, distensions (soft tissue injuries)
Magneto terapija

Magnetotherapy

The therapeutic application of electromagnetic fields is carried out through low and high-frequency magnetic fields.

  • reduces swelling and inflammation
  • alleviates pain
  • accelerates wound healing and bone fracture union
  • promotes tissue regeneration after injuries
Kineziterapija

Kinesitherapy

One of the most important measures of medical rehabilitation. Kinesitherapy is healing through movement, aimed at establishing, maintaining, restoring, and developing the optimal functioning of the locomotor apparatus, organs, and systems functionally related to locomotion.

The goal is maximum utilization of all patient potentials, with an emphasis on the optimal recovery of impaired locomotor functions.

Diagnostic Services

Osteodensitometria

Bone Density Measurement (Osteodensitometry)

What is osteoporosis? It is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by a progressive decrease in bone mass, leading to increased bone fragility.

The Osteoporosis Cabinet in Kanjiža Spa has been operating since 2004, using the state-of-the-art "Hologic Explorer" device, providing the most accurate results for assessing fracture risks.

EMNG

EMNG (Electromyoneurography)

EMNG is an electrophysiological method used to assess the state of the nervous system and muscles. It helps diagnose peripheral nerve injuries, muscle diseases, and root lesions.

The examination is essential for establishing proper therapy and monitoring the recovery process.
